These videos might help to remind you a little about the genetics we have discussed in class. The first video will be familiar to you but the subsequent ones less so.

The next video explains why we are different despite sharing so much of our DNA.

The following video is enjoyably catchy. The artist is called Oort Kuiper and he has a YouTube channel full of rapped maths and science songs.

  1. How many pairs of chromosomes does a typical human have in each cell?
  2. What percentage of your DNA do you share with a banana?
  3. DNA & RNA are examples of nucleic acids. They along with lipids (fats) and polysaccharides (complex carbohydrates) for three of the four macromolecules essential for life. What is the name of the remaining group of complex molecules found in all living things?
  4. The DNA strands are linked by four bases. What are their names?
