Counting Dilemma…

This entry is part 5 of 6 in the series Magic & Illusions

I told 5C today, after we had watched a video about the brain (which I will also post here soon), that everything we see, hear or otherwise experience is generated by our brains and cannot always be trusted. The scientific method allows us to determine what evidence can be trusted by filtering out the biases that normally affect our thinking. This led to a great conversation with DG about perception v. reality and freewill v. determinism – top stuff!

Ironically, as part of a lecture this afternoon, the staff were shown this video. It links in very nicely with the ideas I was trying to express to the boys of 5C.

This is a theme I return to quite regularly so you might also like to see this longer video explaining a little more about optical illusions and colour perception.

More about light and colour can be found here, here and here!

ps We were also shown this video which I have had on here for ages – I’m well ahead of the game this time!
