A Rube Goldberg machine is an unnecessarily complicated machine designed to perform a simple action. It is similar in concept to a Heath Robinson contraption, named after a British cartoonist working in the early 20th Century. There is a good comparison of similar ideas from other nationalities at the appropriate Wikipedia page. I have another post of a video by the band OK Go for the song This Too Shall Pass which is a classic example of the genre.
The video below is from a Canadian photography studio and uses mostly photographic equipment in its contraption.
Perhaps you could build something similar with Lego or dominoes (always an essential component) then film it and send me the file. I can almost guarantee that I will post it here! For further reading, click on this link.
