Madame Noël-Davies sent me a link last week to a video that analyses Donald Trump’s language. I have posted the video below. It makes particularly interesting viewing given his somewhat surprising defeat in the Iowa Caucus last night. Perhaps the US electorate are beginning to see through his act.
.
Don’t get too excited, their preferred candidate, Ted Cruz, has none of the entertainment value of DT but is…
Convinced that God is on his side
A big fan of guns
Opposed to a woman’s right to have an abortion, except in life-threatening situations
Quoted as saying, “I believe the death penalty is a recognition of the preciousness of human life.” In other words, he is a big fan of the death penalty
Against nationalised health care
Opposed to net neutrality (this is essentially saying that Internet speed might eventually be determined by wealth)
Unconvinced by the scientific consensus on climate change (so, whether right or wrong, he would rather trust gut instinct than the evidence. This alone should rule him out of contention for any significant public office immediately – is a view that a reasonable person might take…)
Keen to “carpet bomb” terrorists into oblivion – I feel safer already
He is a pretty terrifying alternative to Trump, without the giggles! Fortunately the Iowa Caucus is a notoriously poor indicator of the Republican’s eventual candidate. In 2012 they chose Rick Santorum and 2008 Mike Huckabee, both of whom fell out of the race completely before the candidate selection procedure was completed. We can but hope that something similar happens to Mr Cruz.
Please may I once again point out that trump is a British euphemism for fart and that you can read more about windy matters here, here and here – it is quite interesting. When I was a boy there was a children’s TV program called Trumpton. I found an episode on YouTube and it is delightful to reflect that absolutely nothing of significance happens in it at any point.
