The Crimbo Holly-Dogs…

Updated Saturday 20th December

I have added to the “About” menu above. You should now find a menu item for your Year Group. It will then link to relevant posts and Twig Prep videos on material we have covered, or are yet to cover, term by term. Get ahead of the game! (Or do some valuable revision by going there right now.)

Well done for reading this post.

Here is the plan…

I will post new articles when I think of them and sometimes I will just move an old article to the front page of the blog – where it will hopefully capture your attention and imagination.

Sometimes I will just post an interesting video or a link to Twig Prep. If any of this doesn’t work please let me know so that I can fix it.

For example…

.

(Yep – I haven’t quite got that right yet. Sorry!)

.

You may find the article soda (all about sodium compounds like sodium bicarbonate) and the article lime (about calcium compounds such as limestone/calcium carbonate) useful to read at this point.

Questions…

  1. Name chemicals that thermally decompose to release (a) carbon dioxide (b) oxygen (c) water vapour.
  2. What does endothermic mean?
  3. Describe an example of an exothermic reaction.
  4. What gas does a Bunsen burner use as fuel?
  5. Where is the hottest part of the blue flame?
