Many thanks to Santi for telling me about this OK Go Music video. They are always the most innovative of bands, having featured on the blog before. This one is a masterpiece in which they sing their song inside ae car whilst playing the music by driving through a series of obstacles and bashing their instruments with pieces protruding from the car. It is brilliant, if a little less musical than some of their previous offerings.

I love the combination of humour and music. One of my favourite ever YouTube clips featured a Norwegian film student called Lasse Gjertson. This is his film, simply titled “Amateur”.

Gabriel S has introduced me to Daniel Kim who produces quite extraordinarily brilliant mash-ups. So good that you can’t see the joins. I didn’t recognise most of the tracks in this video except the ones that appeared in The Musical but I can respect true mastery when I see it.
Watching the video element of the above (which is nothing to do with Daniel Kim since he just uses the original pop videos underneath the audio that he creates) we might need to have a conversation about the way in which women are depicted in pop videos. I found myself being quite disturbed by the fact that in 2014 women (over 50% over the human population I should remind you) are depicted in such a stereotypical and unimaginative way. Perhaps it is post-ironic and I am missing the point but I suspect not.
