The physics of rollercoaster design is fascinating. It is one of the few gravitational potential energy powered machines around and modern low friction bearings and computer design have meant that the initial store of energy is used in a highly efficient way.
The video above seems to load very slowly. Maybe pause it until it is fully loaded then play it; or don’t – the quality on my Blackberry is not exactly HD.
Of course, it’s not all hi-tech gizmology. A few feet of sticky tape, some drawing pins, a couple of boxes and plenty of imagination produces something just as good!
