Archive Week One…

This entry is part 1 of 3 in the series Archive Story

This week five years ago I was skiing in Austria with Mr Edwards & Mr Price. I took my laptop (and a stack of marking) so that I could carry on blogging before the usual collection of Radley & Harrow exams and upcoming mocks. The stuff I wrote in February 2011 can be accessed from the Archive page or by clicking here.

When I wrote the post “Mysterious Yellow Orb” I linked to a newspaper article suggesting that the gravitational effects of a new planet might have been detected in the outer reaches of the Solar System. January of this year saw publication of even stronger evidence, although the planet has since shrunk in size to ‘Neptune-sized’ instead of four times the mass of Jupiter as suggested by the Independent article.

A couple of the posts have answered questions but there should be plenty to read and think about.

Below is a video I saw recently on YouTube from the Royal Institution. Mr Austen used to like making nitrogen triiodide and we used to have to explain away iodine stains and scorch marks fairly regularly. Perhaps I could be persuaded to give it a try – I know we have the ingredients!
